When Juan was asked what he wanted for his 50th Birthday, he immediately said "I want a way to help more people like me have more birthdays." In his 20s, he nor his family were certain that he’d see age 50 because the grips of sin, depression, anxiety, and addiction held so deeply that he couldn’t break free. Years later, he found that his answer and hope were in Jesus!
As overly simplistic as that may sound, Juan is living proof that the power of Christ in him is more than enough to withstand temptation, make wise choices, and press forward to the calling on his life to prosper and reach back and help others.
But it all started because he decided to trust God, and now wants to share the hope of Christ with others. That’s why he’s asking for your help.
We have an audacious goal of raising $50k in the next 50 days!
Here's why... In 2022, Juan and Diera started Hope House For Our Families to bridge the gap in support for individuals and their families trying to navigate the wreckage of mental health and substance abuse. What started out as a seemingly small yes to God has exploded into a ministry serving three counties through biblical counseling, community outreach, and transitional discipleship houses.
The ministry’s work is now a 24/7 brick-and-mortar operation with monthly community events, weekly volunteer opportunities in the local jail and schools, and three discipleship houses, including The Resting Place, the most recently added house for women.
So here’s the ask…
Over the next 50 days, we challenge you to share the hope of Christ with others and raise at least $50 for Hope House For Our Families. How you choose to do that is totally up to you!
Is the challenge free?
Yes! When you raise or donate $50 by June 8, 2024, we’ll send you a keepsake gift reminding you to share Christ. We also encourage you to start a personal fundraiser for Hope House.
When does the challenge start?
The challenge officially starts on April 16th (Juan’s 50th birthday), but you are welcome to start your challenge as soon as you sign up. You can join anytime through June 8th (50 days after Juan turns 50!)
What should my challenge be?
You can do whatever you want to challenge yourself to share the hope of Christ with others over the next 50 days. Click here 50 ways you can do that. And when you do, please share your journey on social media so we can see what you’re doing using the hashtag #hopehouse50for50
- Start a daily devotional email or text message chain with friends and family.
- Volunteer at a local homeless shelter or soup kitchen and share words of encouragement.
- Write handwritten notes of encouragement to people in your community.
- Share inspiring Bible verses or quotes on social media platforms.
- Offer to pray for coworkers or classmates going through tough times.
- Invite someone to church with you.
- Leave anonymous notes with encouraging Bible verses in public places.
- Volunteer to mentor a young person in your church or community.
- Create care packages for those in need and include a note of hope.
- Offer to cook meals for families experiencing hardship.
